Our School

At Dong Fang Taiji, we strive towards refining ourselves in body, mind, and spirit. Tai chi is founded in the principles of rootedness and non-aggression, turning an attacker’s force against them. It is an internal art that builds the entire being so that we learn to be gentle men and women. Yes we learn to fight, and naturally the health benefits appear, but that’s not the point. The value of taiji isn’t in fighting. It isn’t in health. The value of taiji is in finding yourself, refining yourself through time and persistence until you understand who you are and what it is to be a human being.

Our goal is to bring the complete Yang Family taijiquan curriculum to our students, as it has been passed on through the generations, to where we are today.
